Myself and Gary joined the two plates together to form the backplate. As soon as the glue had dried, I routed a trench down the center of the plate to insert a long strip of binding. This glued and inserted, we moved to thickness the plate. I have chosen to thickness the plate to 2.7mm as I would like a very bassy response out of my guitar. After this, I band-sawed the outline of the back plate. My plate had a slight swell in the centre which may not entirely be a bad thing...
